No Flesh on Pulse of Northern Neck Radio Show 09/02 by Orlando Presentz | Indie Music Podcasts

No Flesh on Pulse of Northern Neck Radio Show 09/02 by Orlando Presentz | Indie Music Podcasts:

NOFLESH has been influenced by hip hop culture since he was a teenager and has unashamedly been one of its long time proponents. Having an undying commitment to lyricism, NOFLESH was influenced by hip hop legends such as Rakim, KRS-1, Kool G Rap, Wutang Clan, and the Notorious B.I.G. Viewing hip hop as a medium with which to enlighten minds, inspire the soul, and articulate the language of the faith to the masses, it is his intention to reclaim the heart of hip hop culture at its root. NOFLESH engages his listeners passionately, intellectually, and theologically. He currently holds a bachelor's degree in Biblical Studies from BHU in Atlanta GA, studied theology for two years at the ITC in Atlanta GA, and he holds a MTS from LU in Lynchburg VA. Currently pursuing a Ph.D and serving as pastor of his local church, he is indeed in touch with the cries of humanity. Whether facilitating marriage and family seminars, mentoring at-risk-youth, teaching biblical principles to young college students transitioning into functional adults, he finds his joy in life serving his fellow man.

Jennifer P. Veney on Pulse of Northern Neck Radio Show 08/02 by Orlando Presentz | Indie Music Podcasts:
TUESDAY AT 8:30am Est

Jennifer picked up her passion for singing in 7th grade, under the direction of her mentor, Mr. Marcellus Dungee, who helped to develop her voice from a squeaky teenager to a well-rounded and controlled adult vocalist. In high school, Jennifer won many singing competitions and was awarded Most Valuable Musician in her senior year. Her exposure to musicals, as well as her involvement with several church and community choirs, had urged her to spring out and begin working on her solo project. Jennifer has performed for the X Factor in Greensboro, NC, and travelled to Harlem, NY to perform at the Apollo Theater. Additionally, she had a spotlight showcase with BET in a singing competition. As a solo artist, Jennifer has performed at many venues, starting out with karaoke nights singing secular music. This opened the door to many more opportunities to perform at functions, such as county festivals, fairs, bike/car/truck shows, weddings, birthdays, anniversary parties, and the list goes on. Jennifer eventually formed an R&B band in Hustle, VA called Young Vintage, while earning herself added exposure through newspaper articles and social media.

J Torah on Pulse of Northern Neck Radio Show Monday August 1 2016

J TORAH'S BIO
J Torah, born Travis Johnson, hails from Stuttgart, Germany. At a young age his family introduced him to music. Inspired by an empowering, expressive rap song written by his cousin; J Torah also learned to verbally express his thoughts through rap music. He spent years cultivating his own style of hard-core rap and was well-excepted by his current community in Atlanta, GA. Known by the stage name Young Smokesta (SMK) at the time; he created a reputation to be one of the most highly sought-after MC’s in the city performing at local night clubs and frequently interviewing with local radio stations. His first album released under the name Young Smokesta in 2005 is still very popular overseas and is still in demand in European countries.

J Torah’s testimony lies within this album. Prior to its completion he was in a devastating car accident that opened his eyes to a new life. He could have very well lost his life that day, but God had other plans for him. After receiving a second chance from God; he realized that his purpose was to do kingdom work. One single in particular from that album, “A Divine Revelation” allowed his fan base to see the evident change in him. It was a heartfelt song placed on his heart by the Holy Spirit. This song was so pivotal in his change he decided it will be re-made and released on every album he produces from here on. J Torah’s goal is to tell people how Christ saved and changed his life for the better while ministering God’s word. His current single, “Agape Love” released in 2015 is receiving radio airplay across the world and blessing the lives of all who hear it.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
2016 Rhythm of Gospel Awards Nominee in 3 categories:
~ #12 Holy Hip Hop Song of the Year – “Agape Love”
~ #18 Holy Hip Hop R&P/Song of the Year – “Agape Love”

Gospel Step Music Video:

When the Holy Spirit teams up with hip hop, it makes for a dynamic collaboration of Gospel Rap; a process RIFICA refers to as “the Holy Spirit downloading the lyrics to his brain.” This partnership in music attracts all ages of believers and non-believers the same. RIFICA showcases this spiritual encounter in each of his albums: Motivation, The Standard, and The Death of Me mix tapes. His unique style of artistry is both versatile and nonconforming. Known for his interactive “line dance” tracks, RIFICA creates a high energy atmosphere that would make anyone get up and join. Gospel Step, Gospel Wobble, and The Righteous Shuffle, are major hits in the Christian community and embrace the concept that you can have fun in the Lord, a great time in church, and that it’s exciting to be in Christ. These words RIFICA tells his supporters as he travels throughout Texas and other shows spanning across Denver , CO, Baton Rouge , LA, Myrtle Beach, SC, Nashville, TN, and St. Croix VI. Prior to recording his first album, RIFICA would feature on various artist songs, with his first being with Mic D and Disciples of Prophecy on the DOP 2k3 album. Later, the successful relationship would serve as a positive force of change.

Today, Bonita is enjoying the flexibility of being an independent recording artist. Her talent is in high demand, as she is frequently requested to sing at venues and events throughout Eastern North Carolina! Although she's experienced many tribulations, Bonita's life lessons are part of her unique tapestry that enables her to relate to people who are hurting. One of her biggest accomplishments is her outreach work with those who are incarcerated, sharing God's love through song. Indeed, Bonita has defined her own success, choosing to embrace an obedient lifestyle according to God’s will for her life and career. She simply allows God to do the navigation and depends solely on Him to direct her career path- living by her motto, “If I make the way, then I’ll have to pay the way. But if I allow HIM to make the way, he’ll pay the way!"
Bonita married her husband/manager, Eric B. Simmons in 1994. They have three wonderful children- Mykeva, E.J. and Landon. In October of 2000, Bonita was ordained into the Ministry as "Elder" by national Bishop Andrew Mcrorey Jr. of the Joy Mission Church of Deliverance, Hartford, CT. Bonita serves faithfully as Co-Pastor/Outreach Coordinator of the Family Worship Center Church, "Ministry of Restoration" in Kinston, NC, where George E. Fields, Jr. is pastor. --

Thomas Wakefield-Pulse of Northern Neck Radio Show 07/21 by Orlando Presentz | Indie Music Podcasts

Thomas Wakefield-Pulse of Northern Neck Radio Show 07/21 by Orlando Presentz | Indie Music Podcasts: At age five, piano lessons were a weekly staple in Thomas' life. At age ten the trumpet was added to his studies as the primary instrument, and it was during this time that he discovered two of his lifelong influences: Louis Armstrong and Dizzy Gillespie. By the age of fourteen, the teenage rock-n-roll bug had bitten him. Thomas purchased his first guitar after years of peeking into his father's Gretsch guitar case and ogling the old Martin that sat on a stand beside the piano. Like many teens, he explored the popular music of his peers, but his true interest laid in improvisational jazz and blues. Largely self taught, he studied as much jazz theory and technique as he could find, thoroughly immersing himself in the styles of the great guitar artists by ear and transcription. Before leaving high school, the fledgling guitarist had won an award for his performance at the Smoky Mountain Music Festival. Through college, Thomas composed and performed with the regional rock and roll band, Hit and Run, as well as Kingfish Crawl, a local blues favorite. As an anthropologist, one of his primary focuses is ethnomusicology, and he has extensively studied the BATA drumming of Cuba and its roots with the Lukumi's music of western Nigeria. In recent days he has redirected his ethnomusicological gaze to gypsy swing and jazz manouche. It is within this marriage of music and anthropology that Thomas has found his mission! Thomas continues to compose and teach private lessons, workshops and instructional clinics. In addition, he has designed and performed a number of special lecture/performances for schools and universities that focus on the history and culture of Gypsy swing and early blues and jazz. Thomas is the owner of and principal instructor at Ashland Music Academy, former Director of Music at Benedictine High School, and contributing author/journalist for Flatpicking Guitar Magazine. Thomas has been a Dell'Arte and Crafter guitar endors
